Meet Ali, our Social Media and Marketing Coordinat Meet Ali, our Social Media and Marketing Coordinator!

Alexandra (Ali) attended the University of British Columbia and majored in Political Science. Prior to starting law school, Alexandra was involved in a research cohort that investigated Chinese and Italian mobilities. Since starting law school, Alexandra has become passionate about female empowerment and the commitment of providing legal protection to all women. Together with a fellow UVic law student she began a female-centered book club.

In her spare time Alexandra enjoys trying new recipes, walking the seawall, and golfing in beautiful BC. A true law-nerd, she also enjoys reading a case or two for pleasure.

Excited to have you on the team, Ali!
Meet Knowren, PBSC's 1L Representative. Knowren Meet Knowren, PBSC's 1L Representative.

Knowren (pronounced “Noreen”) was born in Toronto, Ontario and has lived in Ajax, just outside of Toronto, her whole life. She earned a BA in Sociology from Queen’s University where she was heavily involved with community outreach initiatives and volunteered with various vulnerable populations.

After working with these groups, she is all the more interested in increasing access to justice and is excited to recruit her fellow 1L classmates who share a similar passion to get involved with PBSC. In the summers, Knowren usually works at a law firm in Toronto but took this summer off to spend time with her two huskies before she moves for 1L. She has never been to BC before and is super excited to move and explore her new home.

My experience as a volunteer helps me see the bigger picture (which is difficult in law school) and reaffirms my decision to become a lawyer."

Kira (she/her) was born in Treaty 7 Territory (Calgary, Alberta). She holds a Bachelor of Commerce, majoring in marketing, from the University of Calgary. Prior to beginning law school, Kira was a project manager at a marketing agency in Calgary, where she worked with several non-profit organizations. Kira became interested in the impact of intergenerational trauma and the importance of trauma-informed care in this role, which has since translated to a passion for access to justice initiatives. She hopes to apply these learnings to her eventual practice as a lawyer, and in the Summer and School Year Coordinator role with PBSC.

Kira loves the outdoors, and being near the ocean. She especially enjoys spotting seals and sea lions in the water – like all Vancouver Island transplants from the prairies. You can find her playing guitar, raving about her latest Instantpot recipe, or biking around town in her spare time.
