We are pleased to announce that PBSC-UVic has two amazing new Program Coordinators, Hilary Mutch and Kaymi Yoon-Maxwell:
Hilary (she/her) is looking forward to her role as the Summer and School-Year PBSC UVic Program Coordinator. Hilary was born and raised in Treaty 7 (Calgary, Alberta) and holds a BA in English from McGill University. Prior to joining UVic Law, Hilary spent six years in the non-profit sector, where she became passionate about community engagement and transformative learning. She was inspired to enter the legal profession after her involvement with a pro bono initiative while working at a community organization. Hilary currently volunteers with the PBSC Trans ID Clinic.
In her spare time, Hilary enjoys dog walks, running, and exploring the outdoors. She is eager to work with the many students, lawyers, and community organizations that are involved with the UVic PBSC Chapter.
If you’re a community organization interested in a project for the 2021-2022 academic year, please contact Hilary in May via e-mail: pbsc.uvic@gmail.com.
Kaymi (they/them or she/her) is a Korean/Scottish settler in the joint degree program in Canadian Common Law and Indigenous Legal Orders (JD/JID). They earned a BA from the University of British Columbia, with a double major in Gender, Race, Sexuality, and Social Justice (GRSJ) and Human Geography. After completing their undergrad, they worked at West Coast LEAF and Pivot Legal Society, where they were inspired to pursue law school. Kaymi currently volunteers at Together Against Poverty Society (TAPS) through their PBSC volunteer placement; they are excited to continue their involvement with PBSC as the 2021/22 School-Year Program Coordinator. Kaymi loves being by the ocean, cooking spicy food, and tending to their wide-array of house plants, like a proper millennial plant-parent.
The current coordinators will be in the office until April 1, 2021. At that time, the office will be closed for the month until the new Summer and School-Year Coordinator takes over in May. We are so happy to have Hilary and Kaymi on the team; best of luck to you both!
